Backyard Baseball 2001 is the fourth video game released in the Backyard Sports franchise and second Backyard Baseball game by Humungous Enterainment. It was the first backyard baseball game to feature professional players, leagues and teams. It was re-released for modern systems in 2025 as "Backyard Baseball '01" by Megacat Studios and Playground Productions, introducing the game to a newer and wider audience.
As a fan of the Backyard Sports franchise growing up, Backyard Baseball '01 is one of my absolute favorites given it was the first to include real pros as children. After winning the Backyard World Series with my team lovingly called the "Baby Baltimore Orioles", I was inspired to make some posters celebrating the pros on the team that got us there.
